FIGHTING FOR CHARITY ‘VEGAS’ STYLE
Tyrone GAA coach Mickey Harte has turned promoter for a show-stopping extravaganza to aid the fight for multiple sclerosis. All the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas is coming to the Ecclesville Centre on Saturday 7th November, for a VEGAS FIGHT NIGHT in aid of Action MS.
Promising all the thrills and spills of Vegas, this is a fight night with a difference! Long-time supporter of Action MS, Mickey Harte, challenged any wannabe boxers and dedicated amateurs to join the fight in aid of Action MS.
Speaking at the ‘weigh in’ last night Mickey said: “We are looking forward to a great night’s entertainment and at the same time aiming to produce a hard hitting fundraiser that will help us beat multiple sclerosis. I am very grateful to the boxers who have volunteered to step into the ring for such a worthy cause.”
With 11 fights on the card, featuring local personalities and sportsmen, the night will be great fun. Local GAA stars Sean O’Neill and Gareth Devlin, who will fight Down’s Ronan Murtagh, will top the bill alongside former Ulster and Irish Welterweight Champion Dan McCartan.
Action MS Chief Executive Ann Walker said: “All money raised will aid Action MS to continue its fight for those living with multiple sclerosis in Northern Ireland. In the current economic climate Action MS is battling on all fronts to keep its services.
“When Action MS started our goal was to find a cure and most importantly support those living with multiple sclerosis. We also hoped to raise awareness in Northern Ireland. Those goals haven’t changed. We are still funding research into this disease and we hope that one day a cure will be found. Action MS services are user-led and have grown as a direct response to what those living with multiple sclerosis have told us they need. They now include Medicare Breaks, support groups, support for children, befriending and free legal advice. Help us to keep fighting at the Vegas Fight Night.”
The Vegas Fight Night will be held at The Ecclesville Centre, Fintona on Saturday 7th November 2009. Doors Open 7pm, tickets only. First Fight 8pm. After-show Disco by Cool FM’s Connor Phillips.
Tickets are now available from the boxers, the Ecclesville Centre, Fintona and the Action MS website, www.actionms.co.uk priced £25 each.
Action MS invites anyone who is living with MS, their families or carers to contact Jayne Smyth, Executive Director, who would be delighted to help. Telephone (028) 907 907 07 or visit the Action MS website www.actionms.co.uk, for more information.
