Did you hear the interview with our Chief Executive, Ann Walker, on the Q Radio Network with presenter Stevie King? If so, you will already have heard about the new services we are launching in the Mid-Ulster area this September.
The new services have been developed with the input of a group of local people living with Multiple Sclerosis. They are open to anyone in the area and are free-of-charge. You do not have to be a member of Action MS.
Moira McIvor, who has worked with Action MS for over 7 years, will be running the services, which are based in Cookstown. Moira will be happy to hear from you on her mobile 07918 675 030. This is a dedicated Action MS number for the Mid Ulster area. You can also call our offices on 028 907 907 07.
The new services offered include:
Reflexology which will be offered 2 Wednesdays per month at the Glenavon Hotel.
Drop in open meetings once per month at the Greenvale Hotel. These will be open-house sessions for people with MS to drop in and out as suits, have a coffee, meet others, find out what is happening in the area and hear from guests and experts. Action MS staff will be on hand if you want to speak to anyone.
A monthly meeting with a light lunch for carers, which will give an opportunity to meet others informally to talk. Action MS staff will be there too.
There are lots of plans for the future to develop services further, reflecting what local people tell us they need. We hope to recruit for a volunteer befriending service in late 2013 or early 2014.
We will publish a calendar for reflexology, drop in meetings and carers meetings shortly on this website and you can see this here or on our facebook page or twitter feed.
