Support for children

Supporting the entire family is paramount to Action MS and that includes children who have a parent with multiple sclerosis.  Parents themselves may choose to talk to their children about MS, however some parents may find this difficult, as they themselves are coming to terms with their own diagnosis.

Action MS specially trained Professional Care Advisors meet with children to carry out therapeutic support work.  Individual work plans are devised according to the individual child’s needs.

A range of different tools are used such as “A Fishy Tale” the Action MS story book for children, feeling charts and emotion puppets.  The child centred approach ensures that a difficult subject is discussed in a factual and non-threatening way.
